Why We Built Accesen

As human‑centered design and accessibility professionals, we’ve spent over a decade evangelizing accessibility. We are partnering with in‑house teams and external organizations to support people with special needs. A personal health journey exposed firsthand how fragmented guidance can be. To better understand the gaps between home, clinic, and workplace, we interviewed healthcare professionals and coordinators across disciplines.

What we’re seeing: Fewer than one in four employers have accessibility policies, leaving a major market gap. Fewer than one in five patients complete a full course of Occupational Therapy. Nearly half (47.5%) of unemployed people with disabilities report accessibility issues at work. Only 22.7% of people with disabilities are employed versus 65.5% without disabilities.
